Mass Save Program’s $10,000 Whole-Home Rebate

If you’re a Massachusetts resident looking to save money on your energy bills, there has never been a better opportunity to take advantage of Mass Save’s available rebates.

Let’s take a look at the details of the Mass Save rebates, and try to make them a little bit easier to understand!

Understanding the 2022 Mass Save Program Rebates

We’ll focus specifically on the rebates available for heat pump systems in Massachusetts, and how to best take advantage of the savings suited for your situation.

Currently, the rebates available for heat pump systems are broken down into two categories: Whole-Home Rebates, and Partial-Home/Supplemental Rebates.

Mass Save Whole-Home Rebate

For residents looking to replace their current heating and cooling system with a much more efficient heat pump system, the Whole-Home rebate is the best option for you.

Right now, Mass save is offering a $10,000 rebate to use towards the purchase of a whole home heat pump system as your main source of heating and cooling.

Mass Save Partial-Home/Supplemental Rebates

Not looking to replace your whole home heating and cooling system? That’s okay too! For residents looking to add onto their existing heating system, look no further than the Partial-Home/Supplemental rebates!

Currently, Mass Save is offering $1,250 per ton, with a maximum rebate available of $10,000. So, if you’re just looking to heat or cool a small section of your home, this is the right rebate for you.

Who Qualifies For the 2022 Mass Save Program Rebates?

You may be asking yourself, “Ok, but who qualifies for these Mass Save Program rebates?” Depending on your current heating and air conditioning equipment needs, it’s easy to figure out who qualifies for which rebate.

Qualifications for the Mass Save Whole-Home Rebate

In order to qualify for the whole-home rebate, you must meet the following criteria:

  • Must be a National Grid, Eversource, or Unitil Customer
  • Take an Home Energy Assessment through the Mass Save Program
  • Complete all weatherization recommendations made during your Home Energy Assessment
  • Heat Pump installation must be the sole source of heating and cooling

Qualifications for the Mass Save Partial Home/Supplemental Rebates

For residents looking to take advantage of the Partial Home/Supplemental Rebates, you’ll instead have to meet the following requirements:

  • Must be a National Grid, Eversource, or Unitil Customer (utility company)
  • Must be adding on to their current heating system, or adding it to a small section of their home.
  • Homes with natural gas, oil, or propane as back-up heating systems need to also have integrated controls installed.

Don’t Forget To Take Advantage of The Mass Save Heat Loan!

Depending on your situation, you may qualify for Mass Save’s heat loan. If you choose to take advantage of the heat loan, you’ll gain access to the following benefits:

  • Up to $25,000 loan towards the purchase and installation of your heating and cooling equipment
  • 0% financing for up to 7 years

For those who qualify, this is a great option to get all of their heating and cooling needs taken care of in one go. Best of all, there’s no interest, so you’ll maximize on savings potential!

Which Heat Pump Systems are Covered by the 2022 Mass Save Program Rebates?

The best part about the 2022 Mass Save Program rebates are that nearly all of your heat pump solutions qualify!

Whether you’re a customer with existing ductwork looking to update your current heating system, or looking for a whole home solution that best fits your needs; chances are you qualify for the 2022 Mass Save Program rebates.

Ducted Systems vs. Ductless Systems; Mass Save Covers Both!

While both ducted and ductless systems work on very similar principles, both have more overall energy efficiency than boilers or furnaces for your heating and cooling needs. Mass save has  you covered, as they offer rebates for both!

Not sure if you’re best suited for a ducted or ductless system in your home? Let’s take a look at some of the differences between the two so you can get a better idea of what’ll best work for your situation.

Ducted Systems

Ducted systems are best for customers with duct work already in their homes. A ducted system typically consists of one outdoor unit, and the central indoor unit that pumps the air through the existing ductwork.

If you don’t already have ductwork in your home, there’s always the option to add new ductwork, but typically that can get expensive. That’s where the ductless systems shine best!

Ductless Systems

Ductless systems, also referred to as “Mini Split heat pumps,” are a more flexible option for customers who don’t have existing ductwork, or are only looking to partially upgrade their heating and cooling systems.

Ductless systems offer zone heating and cooling, due to their multi unit designs. They’re also great options to heat workshops or garages, and can be controlled independently as needed.

Customers all over Massachusetts are making the switch to ductless systems, and with the available Mass Save Program rebates, it makes sense!

Now You Can Make Sense of the New 2022 Mass Save Program Rebates!

Now that you know which Mass Save rebates you qualify for, it’s time to take advantage of them so you can start saving on your home heating and cooling bills right away!
