There are plenty of benefits associated with installing a mini split system. While one of those advantages involves a less complex installation process, it will still require service from HVAC technicians.
By taking the time to prepare for their arrival, you can help your technician follow through with a smooth and expedient process. Follow this guide to create a positive experience for everyone.

ToggleDecide How the Technicians Will Get Into Your Home
Mini split air conditioning requires the use of indoor ductless units often referred to as wall units or floor units and an outdoor compressor. To complete the mini split installation, your HVAC technicians will need access to the inside of your home.
Most people choose to stay home during the process, but that’s not necessary. If you can’t wait for the installer, make other plans to let them into your house.
Clear the Clutter Away From Critical Areas
After choosing an AC replacement, consider the various areas an HVAC technician will have to access. Since the mini split installation might involve mounting multiple ductless wall AC units throughout your home, make sure to move furnishings and clutter. You’ll want to help them mount the units quickly and easily by keeping an open path for them.
Make Plans for Your Pets
Many dog owners keep valid pet liability insurance for occasions when guests or service technicians enter the home. Even if you have this type of coverage, consider boarding your pets for the day.
A mini split installation often involves the technician walking through various parts of the home. A pet might feel threatened by the intrusion, or a playful pup might injure itself on the equipment.
A New Type of Control
Even your smart thermostat won’t communicate directly with your ductless mini split since you’ll operate the ductless AC equipment via a remote control. However, you will still want to keep an eye on your indoor temperature.
If you have an outdated thermostat, you might want the installer to replace it. Alternatively, an HVAC installer can calibrate your inaccurate thermostat during the service.
Remove any Shrugs of Yard Debris
Before your installation one of Endless Energy’s Account Managers will work with you to find a code compliant location for your outdoor compressor. However you may need to remove yard debris or occasionally relocate a shrub or plan to allow our trained Endless Energy technician to setup your outdoor compressor and run linesets, which are copper tubing, to connect the outdoor unit to the indoor units. One of Endless Energy’s licensed electricians will also be present to help connect the compressor to your electrical panel and install and electrical disconnect next to the unit per Massachusetts electrical code.
Meet the Installer and Inspect the Equipment
When the installer arrives with your mini split system, take a minute to introduce yourself. They might have questions about your home or the plans you set up prior to the installation.
This is also a good time to inspect the equipment. Make sure the unit is the same model you chose and look for visible signs of damage. Since the equipment has warranty protection, you should return damaged equipment promptly.
