One way we do this is through our Mass Save Home Energy Assessments in Brookline, MA, which help homeowners develop customized heating designs, improve home heating and cooling, access flexible financing and rebates, and ultimately enjoy a more comfortable, affordable home year-round. Read on to learn all about our Home Energy Assessments (HEAs) in Brookline, MA, how they work, and how they can help you save.

What is a Home Energy Assessment and Why Do You Need It?

  • A Home Energy Assessment, also known as an HEA or an energy ‘audit’, is a thorough test designed to learn about the way your home consumes and loses energy. In an HEA, a home energy specialist inspects the entire home, identifying areas where you could be saving money through efficiency upgrades and other changes. They compile this information into a home energy report and provide it to you after the assessment is complete.
  • With your HEA and report completed, you can then access a variety of rebates and incentives to make some or all of the recommended changes. This might include 0% interest financing on new HVAC systems, up to $2,750 in HVAC rebates, 100% off of air sealing services, 75% or more off of insulation, plus a number of no-cost items, such as programmable thermostats.
  • This one Home Energy Assessment is a way to access a world of savings on efficiency upgrades, helping to lower energy bills, improve the comfort of your space, and even boost the value of your home.

Am I eligible for the Mass Save® Program in Brookline?

Determining your eligibility for Mass Save® comes down to a few key requirements. To qualify, you must be:
  • A resident of Massachusetts
  • The owner of a qualifying property, such as a 1-4 unit home, or a 5+ unit home (for certain rebates)

Beyond these basic requirements, all new equipment you wish to get a rebate for must be Mass Save-approved. And of course, you’ll need to have a Home Energy Assessment completed beforehand, which will also confirm that the existing fuel source of your current HVAC equipment is being displaced by the new systems being installed.

FAQ: Home Energy Assessments in Brookline

Is Mass Save® Home Energy Assessment worth it?

Yes, a Mass Save® HEA is worth it because it’s free and serves as the first step to accessing significant rebates, incentives, and discounts on energy-efficient upgrades, in addition to improving your home’s energy efficiency and comfort. The assessment identifies specific areas for improvement, allowing you to qualify for substantial savings.

How much does a home energy assessment cost through the Mass Save® program?

$0. There is never a cost for a Home Energy Assessment, whether it’s virtual or in person. The Mass Save® program is funded through a charge on your monthly energy bill (take a look!), so participation in the program is of no additional cost to you.

How long does a Home Energy Assessment take?

A Home Energy Assessment will take no more than 2.5 hours, depending on the size of the home. During that time, an Energy Specialist will walk throughout the home making recommendations for weatherization, including insulation and air sealing opportunities, along with HVAC and water heating upgrades.

Do I have to do everything recommended as part of the Home Energy Assessment?

No. Customers participating in a Home Energy Assessment are not obligated to implement any recommendations proposed by their Energy Specialist.

Who needs to be home during the energy assessment?

It is recommended and encouraged that the homeowner, decisionmaker, and/or the person who knows the most about the home be present throughout the duration of the Home Energy Assessment. If the homeowner/decisionmaker is unavailable, someone who is knowledgeable about the home and at least 18 years old must be present.

Are all home energy assessments in-person?

We offer both virtual and in-person Home Energy Assessments to our neighbors. You get the same benefits and quality of service with either option.

Garret was incredibly helpful with my issue—knowledgeable, patient, and, in his own words, ready to “nerd out for a minute.” That line made me laugh, but I’m so glad I let him dive in. He broke everything down in the simplest, clearest way, and I walked away actually understanding what was going on.

Endless Energy installed our heat pump a few years ago, and they’ve been nothing short of exceptional ever since. Their responsiveness, their professionalism, and their genuine care have stood out every single time. In all these years, we’ve only had one small issue—and even that turned out to have nothing to do with their system.

Thank you, Endless Energy, for your continued excellence. And truly—give Garret a raise. He’s one of the best, friendliest, and most capable people I’ve ever had the pleasure of working with. He made everything easy to understand, and that kind of service is rare.
