CJ did a good kid diagnosing the problem and implementing a fix. The problem was a furnace exhaust line that was freezing up when very cold outside. He verified the pitch of the line was correct. He insulated 15’ of exhaust pipe in the attic. He also applied insulation to a return line from the living room to the furnace. Also in the unheated attic space.
Hiram and his crew installed our heat pump and replaced our old broken AC unit. They were really professional and friendly and were happy to explain the process and walk us through it all. The whole process from getting a quote and walking us through the mass save program and doing the install was seamless. Hiram even came out late in the evening to make sure everything was finished up so our house would be cool enough for the summer heat. Will definitely be calling them for any of our hvac needs from now on.

Furnace Installation in Worcester, MA

How to Tell When It’s Time to Replace Your Furnace

Taking a proactive approach to furnace replacement can save you from unexpected breakdowns—especially during the coldest days of the year. If your system is aging or struggling to keep up, upgrading before a failure occurs can improve comfort, efficiency, and overall reliability.

Older furnaces tend to operate at much lower efficiency levels—often between 56% and 76% AFUE, depending on the model and age. That means a significant portion of the fuel you’re paying for is wasted. Today’s high-efficiency systems, including modern electric and advanced gas units, can reach near-total efficiency, delivering more heat while using less energy.

Warning Signs Your Furnace May Need Replacing

Keep an eye out for these common indicators:

  • Rising energy bills with no clear explanation
  • Frequent repairs or recurring system issues
  • Uneven heating or difficulty maintaining temperature
  • Strange noises or reduced airflow
  • A system that’s 15–20+ years old

As internal components wear down, your furnace has to work harder to produce the same level of heat—leading to higher energy usage and reduced performance over time.

Benefits of Upgrading to a New Furnace

Investing in a new system offers more than just reliability—it can significantly improve your home’s comfort and efficiency:

  • Lower energy costs with improved efficiency
  • Reduced environmental impact through lower energy consumption
  • Better indoor air quality for a healthier living space
  • More consistent, even heating throughout your home
  • Stronger airflow and system performance

Upgrading your furnace isn’t just about avoiding breakdowns—it’s about creating a more comfortable, efficient, and cost-effective home for years to come.

DIY vs. Professional Furnace Installation

DIY Furnace Installation
While it may be tempting to install a furnace yourself to save money, it often comes with significant risks. Furnace installation involves electrical connections, gas lines, ventilation, and safety compliance, all of which require specialized knowledge. Mistakes can lead to system inefficiency, safety hazards (like gas leaks or carbon monoxide exposure), and even voided manufacturer warranties. In most cases, DIY installation ends up costing more in the long run due to repairs, code violations, or premature system failure.

Professional Furnace Installation
Hiring a licensed HVAC professional ensures your system is installed safely, correctly, and up to code. Experienced technicians perform precise load calculations, proper system sizing, and expert installation to maximize efficiency and lifespan. Professional installation also protects your warranty, improves overall performance, and gives you peace of mind knowing your home and family are safe. Plus, working with a trusted company means you’ll have ongoing support for maintenance and future service needs.
