A Day in the Life of an Endless Energy HVAC Install Field Manager (For Techs & Installers)

If you’re an HVAC installer in Massachusetts—or thinking about leveling up—this is what the job really looks like on our team at Endless Energy. We install ducted and ductless heat pumps, furnaces, and boilers from Marlborough to MetroWest, Greater Boston, and Worcester County. We care about clean work, tight commissioning, and careers that actually go somewhere.

Here’s what a hypothetical day in the life of a HVAC install technician during a 1-day Mitsubishi heat pump swap out installation would look like.

7:00 AM — Huddle, Scope, and Game Plan

Coffee, whiteboard, and a quick download from dispatch. We review:

  • System type (ducted/ductless, tonnage, zones)

  • Materials & truck stock (line sets, pad/stand, controls, whip/disconnect)

  • Homeowner expectations (access, pets, finish time)

  • Safety notes & who’s doing what

You’ll have an iPad with ServiceTitan so you can see job notes, photos, and parts in real time.

8:00 AM — Arrival, Walk through, Site Protection & Layout

Drop cloths, floor protection, and a quick walkthrough with the homeowner. We mark equipment location, line-set path, condensate routing, vacuum pump setup, and electrical. Clean, labeled, and logical—that’s the standard.

9:00–1:00 PM — Install Highlights (Where Craftsmanship Shows)

  • Line sets : Nitrogen purge, proper flares or press fittings, pressure test.

  • Refrigerant prep: Deep vacuum to manufacturer spec, confirm with decay test.

  • Electrical & controls: Whip/disconnect, communication wire, stat mounting, tidy wire management.

  • Ductwork & details: Transitions that actually fit, sealed connections, proper filtration.

  • Condensate: Pitch, clean routing, EZ trap where appropriate, no surprises later.

  • Mounting & aesthetics: Level outdoor units, neat penetrations, sealed wall sleeves.

1:00–3:00 PM — Commissioning & QA (The Difference Maker)

  • Follow the Mitsubishi heat pump start-up checklist

  • Static pressure, superheat/subcooling, check your delta-T

  • Control logic & lockouts set correctly – especially important if doing a Mass Save partial heat pump installation!

  • Photos and notes in ServiceTitan so the office can register equipment and we’ve documented the install

3:00 PM — Homeowner Orientation & Wrap

The Lead Installer will walk homeowners through filters, remotes/thermostats, maintenance basics, and what to expect season-to-season. Then we sweep, mop, and leave it cleaner than we found it.

Why Techs Choose Endless Energy

  • Growth you can see: Installer → Lead Installer → Field & QC Manager → Project Manager

  • Real training: Paid factory trainings (Mitsubishi, LG, Bryant, Bosch) + in-field mentorship

  • Tools & tech: Stocked trucks, iPad/ServiceTitan, organized parts, clean uniforms

  • Cross-trade support: In-house plumbing & electrical, plus water quality installs

  • Culture: Craftsmanship, communication, and care—for the homeowner and for each other
